Phillip White begins his second season at Menlo-Atherton, as the Boy’s Basketball Head Varsity Coach. In his inaugural season, Coach White led the Bears to a 21-11 overall record and 8-2, in the P.A.L. South. Along the way, the Bears won the Cupertino Shoot-Out Tournament and placed second, in the P.A.L. play-offs. For the second consecutive year, M-A Boy’s Basketball made an appearance, in the the CCS Division II championship game versus Archbishop Mitty and went on to the first round of the Nor-Cal play-offs. Coach White was hired near the end of the 2006-2007 school year, after serving as the Head Varsity Boy’s Basketball coach, at W.C. Overfelt High School, in San Jose, where he led the Royals to a BVAL Santa Teresa Division Championship in 2005. Prior to his tenure at Overfelt, Coach White served as a head coach at every level of high school boy’s basketball, at various Bay Area locations, since 1994. Coach White has been fortunate to win at least a share of a championship, at each stop including a J.V. championship, at Sacred Heart Prep 2002-2003, F/S championship, at Silver Creek (S.J.) 1999-2000, Frosh championship, at James Logan (Union City) 1994-1995 (Co), 1996-1997. Coach White is certified through the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) and the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).
Coach White grew up in San Jose, where he attended Oak Grove High School, and has been a San Jose Police Officer for over ten years.
