Coach Phillip White begins his third season at Menlo-Atherton (M-A) as the Head Varsity Basketball Coach. During his first year, Coach White led the M-A Bears to a 21-11 record and an 8-2 record in the P.A.L. South League. The M-A Bears won the Cupertino Shoot-Out Tournament and placed second in the P.A.L. play-offs. For the second year in a row, M-A Varsity Boy's Basketball made an appearance in the CCS Division II Championship Game against Archbishop Mitty, and then went on to compete in the first round of the Nor-Cal play-offs. Prior to coaching M-A, Coach White was the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at W.C. Overfelt High School in San Jose, where he led the Royals to a BVAL Santa Teresa Division Championship in 2005. Since 1994, Coach White has served as a Head Coach at every level of High School Boys Basketball throughout the Bay Area. Coach White has won at least a share of a championship at each coaching stop, including a Junior Varsity Championship at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton (2002-2003); a Frosh-Soph Championship at Silver Creek in San Jose ((1998 - 2000); and a Frosh Championsnip at James Logan in Union City (1994-1995)and Co-Championship (1996-1997). coach White is certified through the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) and the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).
Coach White grew up in San Jose where he attended Oak Grove High Schol. He has been a San Jose Police Office for over ten years.
